Natureza Morta

Natureza Morta is the next chapter in Lua Viana’s journey as one of Brazil’s foremost sonic architects.

After proposing a distinctly Latin vision for shoegaze with corpos de agua, Viana has further adapted the rhythms and melodies of her native Brazil to serve a purpose beyond shoegaze.

Now producing music under the moniker Antropoceno, Viana disentangles her music from the confines of sonhos tomam conta -- using this newfound freedom to experiment with Brazilian music in a way that never could have happened otherwise.

On Natureza Morta, Viana dissolves the western tradition foundational to dream pop while confronting the climate crisis through experimental samba. Weaving together avant-garde instrumentation with profound socio-political messaging, Viana seeks to remind us that if nature dies, we go with it.
